Reverse description Central field features the Imperial double-headed eagle of the Holy Roman Empire, displayed with wings spread, each head crowned, and a sceptre and orb upon the chest escutcheon. A shield bearing the numeral 16 is placed on the eagle's breast, representing the partial date. The eagle is rendered in the bold, high-relief hammered style typical of early seventeenth-century German coinage. An inner beaded circle frames the design, while the surrounding Latin legend references the reigning Holy Roman Emperor Rudolf II. Decorative stops separate the abbreviated titulature throughout the circumscription.
