| Obverse description | Central effigy of Emperor Manuel I Komnenos depicted in a facing bust, bearded, and attired in the imperial crown and loros. The emperor holds a labarum staff in his right hand and a globus cruciger in his left, symbols of Byzantine imperial authority. The legend identifying him as Despot flanks the bust in the field to either side. The style is typical of mid-twelfth-century Byzantine hammered coinage, with flattened, stylized facial features characteristic of the Komnenian period. |

| Reverse description | Central effigy of St. George depicted in a facing bust, beardless, and clad in military attire consisting of a cuirass and cloak. The saint holds a spear in his right hand and an oval shield in his left, iconographic attributes consistent with his martial veneration in Byzantine numismatic tradition. A circular device flanks the legend in the field. The abbreviated Greek legend naming the saint appears to either side of the bust, executed in the angular, compact lettering characteristic of Komnenian-era copper coinage. |
