Obverse description Central field features the interlaced Gothic monogram of Louis XII — composed of a prominent letter L surmounted by a fleur-de-lis — set within a four-lobed Gothic cusped frame (quadrilobe). A beaded inner circle separates the central device from the outer legend. The circumferential Latin inscription reads LVDOVIC REX FRANC IAN D, identifying Louis as King of France and Lord of Genoa, struck in the Gothic lettering characteristic of late 15th-century Italian mint production.
