| Obverse description | Square hammered flan bearing multi-line Arabic inscription in the field, reading 'as-Sultan bin as-Sultan', identifying the issuer as sultan son of sultan, a dynastic epithet employed by Ghiyath Shah of Malwa. The bold Naskh-style lettering is arranged in horizontal registers separated by a ruled line, occupying the full face of the coin. The irregular square flan shows typical characteristics of medieval Indian hammered copper coinage, with slightly rounded corners and a flat, unornamented border. |
