Obverse description Central field features the Portuguese royal arms — a quartered shield bearing the traditional quinas and castles — surmounted by a large ornate royal crown rendered in relief. The shield is unadorned by a surrounding legend, occupying the majority of the flan. The design is executed in a simplified, provincial style characteristic of the Goa mint's hammered copper coinage of the early nineteenth century.

Reverse description Central field displays a prominent interlaced monogram composed of the letters 'AP' above 'T', signifying Asia Portuguesa and Tanga, enclosed within a decorative foliate wreath of curving branches. Below the monogram, the denomination '1/2 T' is indicated. The design is bold and deeply struck in a primitive provincial style, with no surrounding legend.
