Obverse description Central field dominated by the interlaced royal cypher AR (Augustus Rex) rendered in elaborate calligraphic script, surmounted by a royal crown adorned with a beaded band and fleur-de-lis-style points. The monogram is flanked by symmetrical foliate scrollwork at the lower corners. Below the cypher, separated by a horizontal line, appears the denomination inscription '16 Gr.' in the exergue. The design is contained within a plain raised border.
