Mustafa III ruled from Constantinople with little direct administrative reach over the Regency of Tunis, where the Husainid beys operated with substantial autonomy — striking coinage in the sultan's name while conducting fiscal policy largely on their own terms. This half sultani belongs to that arrangement, a Tunis mint product nominally honoring the Ottoman sovereign but functionally serving a semi-independent provincial economy.
The "bold legend" designation distinguishes this die variety from contemporaneous issues with finer, more compressed lettering — a meaningful distinction given how few examples surface in collectible condition.
