Obverse description Central field displays the crowned Dutch States General coat of arms, featuring a rampant lion holding a sword within a rectangular shield surmounted by a royal crown with cross-tipped ornaments. The denomination numeral '1/2' appears to the left of the shield and the abbreviation 'St' (for Stuiver) to the right, flanking the arms. A mint letter appears below the shield in the lower field. The design is executed in a bold, utilitarian relief typical of early nineteenth-century colonial copper coinage.
