| Obverse description | Central field features the crowned coat of arms of Friesland, displaying two rampant lions passant guardant on a quartered shield, surmounted by a crown. The shield is set within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding peripheral legend in Latin reads + MONE + NOVA + ORDINVM + FRISI, referencing the new coinage of the provincial States of Friesland. The coin is struck by hammering, resulting in a characteristically irregular flan with uneven surfaces and slightly off-center die placement. |
