Additional information

East Frisia had been absorbed into Prussia in 1744 following the extinction of the Cirksena dynasty, and Frederick II treated the territory largely as an administrative afterthought. These billon fractions were struck at the Aurich mint during the final years before East Frisian coinage was effectively phased out and replaced with standard Prussian currency. The Aurich facility itself closed shortly after.
