| Obverse description | Central field depicts the quartered arms of Burgundy and Guelders, featuring the rampant Guelders lion alongside the Burgundian eagle, set within a inner beaded circle. The heraldic shield rests upon a decorative base with ornamental detailing below. The surrounding legend, rendered in Gothic uncial characters, reads KAROL ⁑ DI ⁑ GRA ⁑ DVX ⁑ BVRG ⁑ GEL, identifying Charles by the grace of God as Duke of Burgundy and Guelders.
