Reverse description Central field displays a floriated long cross with trefoil terminals in each quarter, the arms of the cross extending to a beaded inner circle. The four quarters formed by the cross are each decorated with a stylized fleur-de-lis or similar Gothic ornamental motif. A crown surmounts the upper portion of the central device. The circumferential legend in Gothic uncial script reads ⚜ ⁑ BENENDIC ⁑ AIA ⁑ MEA ⁑ DNO 1474 ⁑, a devotional inscription meaning 'The Lord blesses my soul,' with the date incorporated into the legend. The mint mark — a lily or cross depending on the year of issue — appears within the legend field as a privy mark.
