Additional information

Alderney has no mint of its own and no independent monetary authority in any functional sense — its commemorative issues are produced under licence and struck at the Royal Mint, with legal tender status that is largely ceremonial. This piece honours the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, a charity funded entirely by voluntary donation that has operated independently of government since its founding in 1824. The RNLI series from this period includes multiple reverse designs attributed to Roy Barker, a prolific contributor to British commemorative numismatics whose name appears across dozens of Royal Mint and associated issues from the 2010s onward.
