Reverse description A graceful female allegorical figure, rendered in a classical draped style and viewed from behind, extends her right arm to perch a barn owl upon her wrist, symbolising wisdom and endurance. The figure's flowing hair and robes are depicted with fine sculptural detail, filling the central field. The arc legend UNBREAKABLE WISDOM is inscribed above along the upper border, while the denomination 1/2 SOVEREIGN appears in the lower exergue. The engraver's signature J. CLARK is inscribed in small letters below the denomination.

Additional information

Alderney's legal tender coinage is struck under licence and issued through a commercial arrangement — these are not circulating issues but collector pieces produced in limited quantities, with face values that bear no relationship to bullion content. The Platinum Jubilee series marked Elizabeth II's 70th year on the throne, making her the first British monarch to reach that milestone. She died on 8 September 2022, roughly three months after the principal jubilee celebrations concluded in June.
