| Obverse description | Right-facing couped effigy of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the George IV State Diadem, rendered in fine relief. The sovereign's portrait is encircled by the legend denoting her royal titles and the issuing territory, with the date appearing below the bust in the exergue area. The design follows the standard commemorative portrait convention used for Gibraltar coinage of this period. |

| Reverse description | The central field features a faceted, gem-cut raised panel evoking the form of a brilliant-cut diamond, within which appears a facsimile of Queen Elizabeth II's handwritten coronation oath in cursive script: 'I Solemnly Promise So To Do.' A silhouetted profile of the Queen is subtly rendered behind the script, and the royal cypher 'ER' surmounted by the St. Edward's Crown appears at the top of the coin above the central motif. The surrounding legend reads 'ELIZABETH II CORONATION' along the upper arc, with '1953 HALF SOVEREIGN 2018' inscribed along the lower arc, commemorating the 65th anniversary of the coronation. |
