| Obverse lettering | CHARLES III·DEI·GRA·REX·FID·DEF · MJ (Translation: Charles III by the Grace of God King Defender of the Faith) |
| Reverse description | The reverse features the celebrated St. George and the Dragon design by Benedetto Pistrucci, first introduced on the sovereign in 1817 and retained as the definitive reverse type for bullion sovereigns. St. George, depicted as a heroic nude figure wearing a crested helmet and billowing cloak, is shown mounted on a rearing horse, driving a broken lance downward into the writhing dragon beneath the horse's hooves. The composition is rendered with exceptional sculptural dynamism, filling the central field. The circumferential legend HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE repeats continuously around the inner border, separated by raised dot stops, with the date 2026 prominently displayed in the lower exergual area and the engraver's initials B.P. incuse to the right of the date. |
