Obverse description Central field dominated by the interlaced ducal cypher of Victor Amadeus I, composed of two intertwined letters V and A beneath a ducal crown, the whole supported by foliate or figural supporters on either side. The crowned monogram is rendered in a bold, slightly crude hammered style typical of early seventeenth-century Savoyard minor coinage. A circular Latin legend runs along the outer border, partially visible due to the irregular flan, reading V.AMED.D.G.DUX.SAB.P.PED., identifying Victor Amadeus, by the grace of God Duke of Savoy and Prince of Piedmont. A dotted border frames the legend.
