Reverse description A full-length frontal figure of Christ stands in orant posture at the center of the field, nimbed and robed, holding a book of the Gospels in the left hand; the figure is rendered in the flattened, hieratic style characteristic of late Venetian medieval coinage traditions. The circular Latin legend DEFENS · NOSTER · (Our Defender) surrounds the central figure along the coin's periphery, invoking divine protection for the Serenissima. The overall composition reflects the deeply religious iconographic program standard to Venetian coinage of the early seventeenth century.
