Reverse description Central device consists of the royal arms of France — a shield bearing three fleurs-de-lis arranged two over one in the traditional France moderne composition — surmounted by an elaborate royal crown with fleurs-de-lis finials and a jewelled band, all rendered in high relief. The mint mark (A for Paris) appears at the bottom of the field flanked by stops. The date 1720 is incorporated within the circular Latin legend, which runs along the toothed border encircling the entire design.
