Obverse description Diademed, draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Justinian I facing right, rendered in the late antique style typical of Carthaginian mint issues. The emperor's effigy displays a pearl diadem and military paludamentum, with the folds of the drapery rendered in low relief. The encircling Latin legend reads D N IVSTINIANVS P P AG, identifying the emperor as Dominus Noster Justinianus Perpetuus Augustus. The portrait, while stylized, retains a degree of naturalism consistent with early Byzantine silver coinage from the African mint at Carthage.

Reverse description Central field dominated by a large Tau-Rho monogram (⳨), a Christogram symbolizing the cross, flanked by the Greek letters Alpha (A) to the left and Omega (W) to the right, signifying Christ as the beginning and end. The design is enclosed within a linear border encircled by a wreath, a decorative convention common to late Roman and early Byzantine silver issues. The composition is stark and emblematic, reflecting the deeply Christian character of Justinianic imperial ideology. No additional legend appears on the reverse beyond the three symbolic characters.
