Obverse description Central papal coat of arms of Pope Paul III (Alessandro Farnese) displaying a shield charged with six fleurs-de-lis arranged in the Farnese family pattern, surmounted by the papal tiara and flanked by the crossed Keys of Saint Peter. The shield is set within an ornate cartouche with decorative mantling. A beaded inner border frames the design, and the papal legend runs continuously around the circumference in Latin capital letters.

Reverse description A long-shafted patriarchal or processional cross with a globus at the base and a small sphere at the summit, dividing the field into four quarters each containing a letter spelling out PARM — the mint city of Parma. A thin inner circle frames the central cross design. The surrounding legend, reading from the top of the coin, is struck in Latin capital letters separated by stops, referencing the Psalmist's invocation of peace through divine strength.
