Obverse description Central field displays the papal tiara (triregnum) surmounting the crossed keys of Saint Peter, the traditional heraldic emblem of the Holy See, rendered in high relief. Below the keys, the pontifical name and regnal numeral are inscribed in two lines: BEN XIV, flanked by decorative rosettes. A curved palm or laurel branch motif appears at the base of the design, and the date is placed in the upper field. The entire design is encircled by a finely executed milled border.
