| Obverse description | Quartered shield bearing the arms of Mantua — divided into four quarters displaying alternating horizontal bars and a rampant lion — surmounted by a ducal crown with fleurons. The shield is flanked by decorative mantling. The peripheral legend reads MANTVAE ANNO SALVTIS with the date 1629 distributed around the field. The strike is characteristic of hastily produced siege coinage, with an irregular flan and uneven surfaces. |
