| Obverse description | Central field bearing an ornate cross with a six-pointed star in each of the four angles, all enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding legend in Latin capital letters reads REIP*GENV*+DVX*ET*GVB*, referencing the Republic of Genoa and its governing magistrates, separated by star-shaped ornaments. The design is rendered in the characteristic bold, slightly crude style of Genoese hammered coinage of the seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries. |
