| Obverse description | Within a pearled inner circle, the crowned civic arms of Nijmegen consisting of a double-headed eagle displayed, charged on the breast with a small shield bearing a rampant lion. The heraldic device is rendered in the flat, linear style typical of mid-16th-century hammered Low Countries billon coinage. A peripheral legend in Roman capitals runs along the outer rim. |
