Obverse description Half-length crowned effigy of Edward IV standing facing in a ship, depicted in the traditional medieval ship or 'noble' style. The king holds a drawn sword in his right hand and a shield bearing the royal arms in his left. A banner inscribed with the letter E appears on the ship's stern, and a rose decorates the ship's side. The legend, rendered in uncial Gothic lettering, runs along the coin's circumference.
