| Obverse description | Square hammered silver flan with a raised linear border dividing the field into two horizontal registers. Both registers bear Arabic inscriptions in bold, angular Naskh script. The upper register contains a portion of the royal titulature, while the lower register continues the legend referencing the sultan's name and titles. The script is deeply struck with characteristic uneven surfaces typical of medieval Indian hammered coinage. |

Ghiyath Shah ruled Malwa for an exceptionally long and stable reign — over 30 years — which he spent largely in deliberate withdrawal from military campaigning, delegating governance to his son Nasir while occupying himself with the arts, music, and an elaborate court culture documented in the Ni'matnama, a manuscript of recipes and pleasures compiled under his patronage. The coinage reflects this administrative continuity rather than crisis, struck consistently through a period when many neighboring sultanates were fragmenting.
Malwa silver of this period draws from the Tanka weight standard progressively adjusted under successive sultans. The half-denomination was the practical workhorse of regional bazaar trade along the Narmada corridor.
