Obverse description The obverse features a central Arabic legend reading 'ضرب في جاوة' (Struck in Java) arranged across the field in flowing Naskh script. Below the Arabic inscription, the date '1805' is rendered in Western numerals, with the mintmark letter 'Z' (for Zeeland/Middelburg Mint) positioned beneath the final digit. Small decorative dot ornaments flank portions of the legend. The entire design is contained within a bold reeded border characteristic of milled coinage of the period.
