Additional information

Einbeck's municipal coinage of the late 1620s was struck against a backdrop of the Thirty Years' War actively destabilizing northern German trade networks. Local civic issues like this half Reichsort filled genuine gaps left by the collapse of reliable imperial coinage circulation during the Kipper- und Wipperzeit, the inflationary crisis of 1619–1623 that had flooded the region with debased small change. Buck's Ei#96a designation distinguishes this variety within a closely related group of Einbeck municipal issues that share obverse dies.
