| Obverse description | Bare-headed left-facing portrait bust of Rafael Carrera occupying the central field, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair curls. The effigy is of a mature, strong-featured man depicted in a classical neoclassical style. The legend arcs around the upper periphery, reading CARRERA FUNDADOR DE LA R: DE GUATEMALA, separated from the rim by a continuous beaded border. The field is smooth and unadorned save for the portrait, lending an austere, dignified character to the design. |
