Obverse description Crowned enthroned figure of King Pedro IV facing, seated within a quatrefoil frame composed of four lobed arches, holding a sceptre in the right hand and an orb or shield in the left. A fleur-de-lis is visible in the upper-left lobe of the quatrefoil, with additional heraldic devices in the remaining lobes. The whole is set within a beaded inner circle, with the Latin legend surrounding the design in the outer field.

Reverse description A plain long cross pattee extending to the edges of the inner circle, dividing the field into four quarters, each quarter containing a trefoil or curved lobe forming a quatrefoil pattern around the cross. A fleur-de-lis appears above the cross at the top of the quatrefoil. The entire central design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, surrounded by the continuation of the Latin royal title legend in the outer field.
