Obverse description Central field displays the Argentine National Coat of Arms within an oval cartouche: a Phrygian liberty cap on a pike set against a horizontally striped background, all enclosed within a wreath of laurel and olive branches tied at the base. The date 1840 appears in the lower exergue below the wreath. The circular legend EN UNION Y LIVERTAD runs along the periphery, separated by a small star ornament at the top.

Reverse description A large radiant sun with a human face occupies the central field, its disk rendered with alternating straight and wavy rays emanating in all directions, a classic Sol de Mayo motif. The facial features — eyes, nose, and mouth — are boldly struck within the circular solar disk. The circular peripheral legend PROVINCIA DE CORDOVA P.N.P. surrounds the design, with dot separators punctuating the inscription.
