Reverse description Crowned Spanish royal arms at center, flanked on either side by the Pillars of Hercules, each surmounted by a crown. The shield displays the quartered arms of Castile and León. The entire design is encircled by a continuous legend reading MONEDAPROVISIONALDEZACATECAS, identifying the coin as a provisional issue of the State of Zacatecas. The execution is characteristically bold and somewhat crude, consistent with the emergency nature of this provisional coinage.
