Obverse description Crowned quartered royal arms of Spain occupying the central field, displaying the castles of Castile and lions of León in the principal quarters with the Portuguese escutcheon in nombril point. The crowned shield is flanked by the mint mark and assayer initial to the left and the royal cypher initial to the right. The legend is partially visible around the periphery, bordered by a beaded inner circle.
