Obverse description Central crowned quartered royal arms of Spain within a shield, displaying castles and lions in the quarters, set within a toothed border. The royal crown surmounts the shield at top center. The encircling legend reads PHILIPPUS V D G in Latin, identifying the monarch as Philip V by the Grace of God. The design is executed in a clean milled style characteristic of early 18th-century Spanish coinage.
