Obverse description Armored and draped bust of Philip IV facing right, rendered in low relief in the style characteristic of the Segovia roller-mill coinage. The effigy shows the king with a ruffled collar and cuirass. A circular Latin legend reading PHILIPP IIII D G surrounds the bust, with the date 1631 incorporated into the legend in the upper field. The coin is bordered by a beaded inner circle.

Reverse description Crowned quartered shield of Castile and León at center, displaying alternating castles and lions in the four quarters, with a pomegranate in base. The mint mark of Segovia (aqueduct symbol) appears to the left of the shield and the denomination mark to the right. A circular Latin legend HISPANIAR REX surrounds the shield, with the assayer initial A and value numeral 17 also present in the field. The coin is bordered by a beaded inner circle.
