Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of King Carlos IV facing right, rendered in the neoclassical portrait style standard to late Spanish colonial coinage. The king's hair is dressed with a laurel wreath and tied with a ribbon at the nape. The truncation of the bust is visible at the lower field. The circular legend reads CAROLUS IIII DEI GRATIA, with the date 1806 appearing in the lower exergual area between two pellets.

Reverse description The crowned Royal Arms of Spain displayed on a quartered shield, featuring the castles of Castile and the lions of León in alternate quarters, with the Bourbon fleur-de-lis in an inescutcheon at center. The shield is flanked by the Pillars of Hercules, each surmounted by a crown, representing the Strait of Gibraltar. The mint mark 'So' and assayer initials 'FJ' appear to the left of the shield, with the denomination '½ R' to the right. The surrounding legend reads HISPAN ET IND REX.
