Reverse description The crowned Spanish Royal Arms, comprising the quartered shield of Castile and León, displayed centrally in the field. The shield is flanked by the two crowned Pillars of Hercules, each bearing a ribbon-like banner (the PLUS ULTRA device). A surrounding circular Latin legend identifies the Spanish monarchy's dominions. The composition follows the standard format established for the reformed coinage of the Spanish colonial mints.
