| Reverse description | A bold crowned monogram of the royal cypher dominates the center of the flan, formed by an interlaced script M beneath a cross pattée, characteristic of the Madrid mint's macuquina issues under Carlos II. The mint mark 'M' and assayer's initial 'BR' appear to the left of the cross, with the date 1691 inscribed in the lower field. The peripheral Latin legend, partially visible on the irregular flan, reads HISPANIARVM REX. The overall strike is typical of the hand-hammered cob technique, resulting in an off-center, somewhat crude but bold impression. |
