| Obverse description | Crude hammered field bearing a three-line Arabic kufic inscription arranged within a plain rectangular frame. The legend reads 'al-Amir / Abu Bakr / ibn Umar', identifying the Almoravid ruler. The lettering is boldly raised against a flat, unadorned field typical of small Almoravid fractional silver coinage. The flan is irregular and slightly clipped at the edges, consistent with hand-struck production of the period. |
