| Obverse description | Crowned and elaborately draped bust of Queen Elizabeth I facing left, wearing a jewelled crown, an ornate ruff collar, and richly decorated robes, with long flowing hair visible beneath the crown. The effigy is rendered in the refined late Elizabethan hammered style, with fine detail in the dress ornamentation and facial features. A beaded inner circle frames the central design. The surrounding legend in Latin reads ELIZAB' • D' • G' • ANG' • FRA' • ET • HIB' • REGINA, proclaiming Elizabeth by the Grace of God Queen of England, France, and Ireland. |
