Obverse description Nine-fold coat of arms featuring a two-fold central escutcheon combining the arms of Bremen and Lübeck, the composite shield supported within an ornate frame surmounted by three crested helms with elaborate mantling. The arrangement follows the heraldic conventions of the late sixteenth-century North German ecclesiastical tradition. The surrounding legend in Latin identifies the issuing authority, divided by decorative stops. The entire design is struck in high relief on the characteristic broad flan of a multiple-ducat piece.
