| Obverse description | Central field displays the elaborate papal coat of arms of Innocent XII, consisting of a baroque cartouche adorned with foliate scrollwork and surmounted by a cherub's head, flanked by the crossed keys of Saint Peter and the papal tiara at the top. The shield bears three albarelli (apothecary jars), the heraldic device of the Pignatelli family. The entire composition is executed in high relief in the baroque style characteristic of late 17th-century Roman coinage. A circular legend surrounds the design, interrupted at the base by the date, with a beaded inner border running along the coin's circumference. |
