| Obverse description | Central device depicts the papal coat of arms of Clement XII (Lorenzo Corsini), rendered as a large ornate heraldic shield featuring vertical barry stripes, surmounted by the papal tiara (triregnum) and flanked by the crossed keys of Saint Peter — one gold and one silver — bound with a cord. The shield is framed by elaborate Baroque acanthus scrollwork. The circular legend reads CLEMENS·XII PONT·M·A·IV· (or A·V· for the second year of issue), referencing the pontifical year of reign. A beaded inner border runs along the entire circumference. |

| Reverse description | The reverse displays the papal motto FRVSTRA VIGILAT QVI CVSTODIT (from Psalm 127:1, meaning 'In vain does the guard keep watch') inscribed in four bold lines across the central field, executed in an upright Roman capital lettering style characteristic of Baroque papal coinage. The inscription is framed within an elaborate cartouche formed by symmetrical acanthus and foliate Baroque scrollwork. At the top of the cartouche, a grotesque mask or cherub face serves as a decorative keystone element, while at the base a papal tiara device appears as a further heraldic ornament. The entire composition is enclosed within a beaded inner border. |
