| Reverse description | The reverse presents a bold two-line Latin motto ÆRVGO·ANIMI / CVRA·PECVLII within a richly ornamented baroque frame of symmetrical foliate scrolls and volutes. Above the central legend, a stylized scallop shell or sunburst motif serves as the uppermost decorative element, while the date MDCCXV appears in Roman numerals below the motto. At the base of the design, a small papal heraldic device or cartouche is present. The entire composition is enclosed within a continuous milled border. The motto, meaning 'The rust of the soul is the care of money,' reflects the moral and theological character typical of pontifical coinage of this period. |
