Obverse description A finely detailed three-quarter perspective view of Ford's Hospital, a Tudor timber-framed almshouse in Coventry, fills the coin's field. The building is depicted with characteristic late-medieval architectural elements including multiple gabled dormers with ornate carved bargeboards, leaded lancet windows, a central arched entrance doorway, and a prominent projecting upper storey. The legend FORD'S HOSPITAL arcs along the upper periphery, while the foundation date FOUNDED / 1529 appears in two lines along the lower field. The engraving is executed with exceptional precision and fine relief detail, characteristic of Peter Kempson's Birmingham workshop.
