Obverse description Draped and uniformed bust of the Duke of York facing left, rendered in high relief with elaborate curled and powdered hair. The subject is depicted in military dress with epaulettes and decorative orders visible on the chest. The legend DUKE OF YORK. arcs around the periphery of the field without a beaded or dentilated border. The portrait is boldly modelled in the neoclassical style characteristic of late 18th-century British token engraving.
