| Reverse description | Central design consisting of a voided cross pommée — a cross with circular terminals at each arm — struck within a beaded inner circle. A single annelet is placed in each of the four quadrants formed by the cross arms, lending the reverse a symmetrical, ornamental appearance consistent with contemporary Anglo-Irish coinage practice. The moneyer's legend runs around the periphery outside the beaded circle, naming the responsible moneyer and the Dublin mint. The die work is bold but characteristically irregular, reflecting hammered production techniques of the late 12th century. |
