| Reverse description | At center, a crowned Irish harp occupies the field, rendered with fine decorative detail including a female figure forming the forepillar. The date is divided on either side of the crown, with 16 to the left and 86 to the right. The surrounding legend MAG·BR·FRA·ET·HIB·REX reads around the periphery, proclaiming James II's sovereignty over Great Britain, France, and Ireland. The crowned harp is the traditional heraldic emblem of Ireland and serves as the principal reverse type for Irish coinage of this reign. |
