| Reverse description | A long cross pattée extending to the coin's edge divides the reverse into four quadrants, each containing a trefoil of pellets arranged in a triangular grouping. The cross arms are bold and well-defined, characteristic of the heavy coinage issue of Henry IV's reign. A circular Latin legend in uncial script surrounds the design, naming the City of London as the mint of issue. The overall composition is consistent with standard English medieval hammered halfpenny reverse types of the early Lancastrian period. |
