Obverse description Laureate and draped short bust of King George III facing right, engraved in the neoclassical style by Richard Yeo. The king's hair is rendered with finely detailed curls tied with a ribbon at the nape, characteristic of the short bust type. The circular legend reads GEORGIVS . III . REX., disposed around the periphery with stops separating each element. The truncation of the bust is pointed, a distinguishing feature of this earlier issue type. The field is flat and unadorned.
